Your Qibla direction

Find a bearing toward the Kaaba. Location and sensor access are optional.

01

How the Qibla finder works

The Qibla is the direction toward the Kaaba in Makkah. This tool calculates the initial great-circle bearing from the selected coordinates to the Kaaba, expressed clockwise from true north.

Choose a preset city for a city-center bearing, enter more precise coordinates, or request your device's location. City-center coordinates are approximate; using your own coordinates gives a bearing for your selected position.

02

A bearing and a phone compass are different

The calculated bearing is relative to true north. To use it without a phone sensor, align a map or a reliable compass with north, then turn by the displayed angle. The static dial does not know which way your device is pointing.

A phone compass relies on sensors that may be unavailable or affected by metal, magnets, a case or nearby electronics. Some devices report magnetic rather than true heading. Treat the phone indication as approximate and cross-check it when precision matters.

03

Using Qibla direction on a desktop

Desktop computers usually do not have a direction sensor. The bearing still works: it gives you an angle to use with a north-oriented map or physical compass.

The location calculation runs locally in this page. Coordinates are not included in our tool analytics events or sent to a geocoding service. Optional website analytics remain subject to your consent.

04

Keep the compass with your daily tools

If you prefer an app, Everyday Muslim includes a Qibla compass alongside prayer times, Quran and prayer tracking. Review your location settings and keep your device away from sources of magnetic interference.

Prayer direction and prayer time answer two different needs. Use the linked prayer calculator when you also need a timetable for a selected city and date.

A few useful answers

Before you begin.

Which direction is the Qibla?

It depends on where you are. Select your city or coordinates to calculate the initial bearing toward the Kaaba from true north.

Do I need to allow location access?

No. You can choose a city or enter coordinates manually. Location access is optional and is requested only when you choose the location button.

Why is the arrow not following my phone?

Enable the phone compass if your device supports it and grant any sensor permission requested. Without a reliable heading, the dial shows the true-north bearing instead of claiming to track your device.

Can I use this without installing an app?

Yes. The online bearing calculator works in the browser. Everyday Muslim's mobile app is available separately if you want prayer times and other tools together.
